We get told to record it, submit it, and forget it. I did finally land one of these bookings, but it turned out to be a total nightmare. I did way too many hours of recording and editing work for way too little money because the producer made some poor decisions. Before I recorded my very first audition, I decided to go low-budget on my gear. Much to my surprise, I booked several jobs with that cheapie tech. I quickly decided to upgrade to a really good USB microphone.

Then I booked 10 more jobs with that one. To reward myself, after six weeks and 15 jobs, I went big and dropped a thousand dollars on a professional XLR microphone. Well…my shortlist and booking rates have since doubled. Maybe, maybe not. This is when we call your agent, and put you on check avail, or hold. So we will keep an actor on hold until the booking is firm, and if something happens you are still available and we can give the job to you!
